A resident of Livingston and a native of Galvez, Christine Sholar "Aunt Teen" Akridge passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013, at 7:20 p.m., at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. She was 100 years old. Visitation was at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 West New River St., Gonzales, on Friday until service, conducted by the Rev. Charles Marceaux, Interment was in Prairieville Community Cemetery. She is survived by one sister, Kearney Babin; numerous nieces and nephews, including her great nephew and caretaker's, Keith Matherne and wife, Debra. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris Allen Akridge; parents, Abner and Allie Broussard Sholar; one sister, Roxie Cheshire; and two brothers, Windle and R. D. Sholar. Pallbearers were W. L. Sholar, Jr., Charles Cheshire, C. R. Babin, Glenn Sholar, Earl Broussard, and Allen Matherne Jr. She was a member of Broussard Grove Baptist Church.
