He was the son of John Haider and Mary Madeline (Scheman). He grew up in Spearhill and attended school there.
Harry went to Pine Falls, Manitoba in about 1930 and obtained a job with the Manitoba Paper Company.
On August 17th, 1937 at Pine Falls, Manitoba Harry married Myrtle May Anderson, eldest daughter of Alexander and Frances (nee: Linklater) Anderson.
Harry enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and swimming.
In June 1941 Harry joined the Army. He went overseas that same year with Fort Garry Horse, a unit of the 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade.
Harry was an Acting Lance Corporal when he was reported Killed In Action on June 6th, 1944 in Normandy, France.
