Our Precious Son

Steven was our first born son and the middle child. He had an older sister, Sandra and a younger brother, Michael. Steven was diagnosed with depression most of his short life. Finally the end of 2009, we found out he had Asperger's Syndrome. Asperger's Syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, along with restricted and repetitive pattern of behavior and interests. It's hard to detect this condition and hard to treat.

Steven just could not cope with this and ended his own life. This condition is now showing up in a lot of people and hopefully the earlier you can detect this, the better. It was too late for Steven.

Steven and his pop-pop were buddies the day my son was born. His pop-pop taught him all about nature and the love of wild life even before Steven can walk. By the age of three, Steven knew all the names of trees, plants, animals, insects, etc. Those two were inseparable. When Steven had his mood swings, my dad was the only one who could calm him down. My dad, Ray, died on Steven's 21st birthday and that's the day my son's spirit broke. Steven lost his only buddy in the world. He decided to join his pop-pop and is buried right next to him.

Steven is survived by both parents, sister and brother. He was also the uncle of two nephews whom he met and 3 nieces who were born after his death.

Suicide Is A Permanent Solution To A Temporary Problem

Steven was the grandson of

Ray & Esther Mitchell

Leon Sr. & Phyllis Sumaliki

Steven aged 25 years, 10 days

He was laid to rest on March 19, 2010.

May he find the peace in Heaven that escaped him on Earth!

***Social Security Death Index (SSDI) has Steven's birthday as June 1, 1985. I cannot correct this 3 months difference on his birth month because the error was not caught within six months of his death. Their Central Computer cannot make any changes after that period. I found the error two years after his death and tried numerous times to correct it.***
