Mary, the wife of John Moyer, of No. 411 Wireback Alley, died suddenly at 6:30 o'clock this morning of asthma. She had been ailing about two years. A few minutes before she died she was talking to her husband. She was seized with a coughing spell and death followed.
She was a native of Germany and was in the 79th year of her age. She was brought to this country when a girl. She was twice married, her first husband Matthias Miller, who died about 30 years ago.
The deceased woman was a member of Bethany United Evangelical Church.

I'm not exactly sure of her date of birth, since her tombstone inscription is 1826, but her obit states she was in her 79th year, which would've made her year of birth 1819; to add to this descrepency, the June 5, 1880 census lists her as 59, which would've indicated a birth year of 1821, since she was born in January. In the July 6, 1860 So. Easton PA, Northampton Co. Census, her age is given as 40, which would indicate her birth year as 1820, since she was born in January. Her age is given as 49 in the July 30, 1870 So. Easton Census, indicating a birth year of 1821, since she was born in January.
