Joseph T. Leibengood, of this city, died yesterday at the Soldiers Home at Dayton Ohio, where he went last September to undergo treatment for cataracts on his eyes. He had about recovered from his operation he underwent there and was to have returned to his home in a few days when taken sick. The deceased was in his 78th year of his age.

He was a native of Whitehall Township, Lehigh County. About six years ago he came to Easton from Kingston PA.

During the Civil War he served as a member of Company G, One Hundred and Seventy-sixth Regiment, PA Volunteers. He was a member of Lafayette Post, No. 217, G.A.H. of this city.

Mr. Leibengood was a member of the Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church of Easton.

I'm not sure who Joseph's father was yet. In the 1850 and 1860 Lehigh Twp. PA Censuses Joseph lived next door to Philip Leibenguth, who I suspect may have been his grandfather.
