Skatti Bastet and Cadfeal were thrown from a car window into the middle of a very busy 4 lane street. They landed just between the wheels of cars. A man stopped and picked them up. I stopped, took them from him and dropped them at my vets. They were so dirty and wet I could not tell their color. I thought Skatti was dead he was so limp. Cadfael drug himself in front of Skatti and tried to hiss to warn me off. He could make no sound at all. The vet pulled them through and two little black kittens came home with me. My children and I took turns getting up every 2 hours around the clock (despite summer jobs) to feed them and change their bedding. After they pulled through they were too afraid of people to be put up for adoption. By the time they were used to people they had wormed their way into our hearts and they became part of the family. When my mother died I took her two black cats in. Skatti and Cadfael immediately pinned them down and started giving them baths. They totally adopted them. The only cat they did not really totally accept was Sam who was orange. Any black cat was instantly part of the family. Skatti loved to be held and hugged and kissed. He could not meow. He said "yeah". I would come home from school, ask him if he missed me. I got a "yeah". Asked if he knew I missed them. Got the "yeah". We could carry on complete conversations with him answering. Drove my teenagers crazy.(Did I do it to drive them crazy. Well, partly. I did enjoy carrying on a conversation with him and it did drive them crazy at the same time. 2 birds with l stone philosophy.) In old age he and his brother developed diabetes. I gave shots and gave them the best possible care but eventually they died from it. I have their ashes and they will be buried with me.

I just remembered the day you were watching a squirrel outside the glass doors in the back. I opened the door to go out, you darted out after the squirrel, realized halfway to the tree that you were outside, changed directions in midair without your paws ever touching the ground and beelined back into the safety of your house.

THANK YOU DEAR SAFFRON WINGS FROM MY HEART FOR SPONSORING TWO VERY SPECIAL CATS MY SKATTI AND MY CADFAEL. YOU ARE A TRUE FRIEND AND A VERY KIND HUMAN BEING.
