Funeral services for (Ret) SGT Howard Paul Cart, a WWII and Korean War Veteran were held on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville, Rev. Edgar Evans officiated. Burial followed with full military honors in the Cooper Cemetery in Pickering.

Sgt. Cart, was a native of Basile, LA. joined the U.S. State Army at 17 and served during WWII and the Korean War serving meals to the soldiers. After his retirement from the Army he worked at the Ft. Polk Army Hospital as a dietician where upon retirement from Civil service had 47 years total of service with the government. He was a member of Cooper Baptist Church loved to work in his gardens and working with his live stock.

Survivors are his wife of 67 yrs , Mary Ellen Cart of Leesville, LA., Daughter and son in law: Ellen Sue McBrayer and David of Bedford, TX., Sons and daughters in law; Howard Cart JR. and wife Patricia of Pickering, LA. Harry Cart and wife Barbra of Pickering, LA., One Sister in law: Jean Pousson of Pickering, LA., Grandchildren: Terry Cart, Patrick Cart, Kady Cart, Gwen Smith, Gary Lynn Williamson, Joey Williamson; Great Grandchildren Jacob Cart, Zackery Cart, Morgan Cart; Great-Great Grandchild
