Funeral services for retired U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas M. Berry, 67, of Leesville, Friday, June 3, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the Main Post Chapel at Fort Polk, with Rev. Bobby Ganaway and Cpt. Ken Walker officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Leesville, under the direction of the Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville. Mr. Berry passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at the Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville. Mr. Berry retired in 1992 at the rank of Command Sgt. Maj. after 35 years in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Thuy T. Berry, of Leesville; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Jay Young, of Dallas, Texas; step-grandchildren, Valarie and Brett Philen, Riley, Delaney and Kelsey Young; step great-granddaughter, Brenley Philen and his legacy will continue with the birth of his grandchild in November 2005.
