Harold Jones of this village received word of the tragic death of his brother, Sergeant Leon M. Jones of Gouverneur, who lost his life Thurdsay afternoon when an army training ship crashed and burned near the army Desert City Training Center, Indio, California. Leon was born at North Gouverneur on Jan 17, 192, the son of Mrs. Mary L. Jones of Edward and the late Benjamin J. Jones, a native of Richville. He enlisted in the army air force on August 6, 1940. He was stationed at Langley Field, Virginia for some time and last April was transferred to California. He is survived by his mother, five brothers, and two sisters.
