The son of Ronald Smith and Kathy Wilburn, he graduated from Kenton Ridge High School in 2003 and entered the United States Marine Corps. He was due to return from duty in October and planned to become a police officer and get married. He enjoyed playing baseball, guitar, and video games. He also enjoyed tinkering around with his 1993 Toyota Celica.
He is survived by his father and step-mother; his mother, sister, and fiancée; eight aunts and uncles; eight cousins; and several close friends.
A service was held at Fellowship Christian Church, with Pastors John Essig and Grant Edwards officiating. His burial, with full military honors, was held at Vale Cemetery where his maternal grandparents, Ted Wilburn and Mildred Wimmer, are buried.
