He was one of 3 known children of William Davis and Nancy Ann Hill. His parents married Aug. 6 1794 in Prince Edward Co., VA.
James married 1st to Martha Causey on Feb. 8, 1836 in Butler Co., KY. They had 5 children that I know of. After Martha's death around 1851 in Hopkins Co., KY., James married Katherine Combs on April 23, 1853 in Muhlenburg Co., KY. They had eight children. It is said that he went up on Bohannon Mt. and lived there till he died. He died sometime after 1880. He was a barrelmaker by trade.
He was my husband's great great grandfather.
