Janice Waddell Karam, age 61, died Thursday, January 30, 2014 in Oakhaven Nursing Center. A funeral will be 2:00 PM Sunday, February 2 in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home, with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Born March 20, 1952 in Darlington County, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie P. Waddell, Jr. and Sarah Douglas Ward. Janice was a wonderful cook with an exuberant personality. Janice was full of life and enjoyed being around people. She also had a knack for nicknaming people.
Surviving are two daughters; Angela Lyons of Darlington, Tonya "Tunkie" Anderson of Darlington, grandchildren: Austin (Heather) Lyons, Tyler Lyons, Sydney Dennis, Zachary DeVernay, Quinton Suggs, a brother, Wayne Waddell of Darlington, sisters:Evelyn (Carmon) Harding of Clio, MI, Betty (Michael) Rogers of Aynor, Deborah (Larry) Rayfield of Chesterfield, Faye (Allen) Streett of Darlington; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her special life companion, Larry S. Gainey, Sr.
The family will receive friends from 1-2PM Sunday at the funeral home and all other times at the home of Faye and Allen Streett, 632 Heathwood St. Darlington.
