Musician. He was an American pianist and singer who was associated with Southern gospel music. He played for "The Celestials," "The Kingsmen Quartet," and "The Gaither Homecoming Tour." He also did a stint with a group comprised of Ivan Parker, Kirk Talley, and himself called simply "The Trio," in which he not only accompanied but also contributed vocally. He was the recipient of nine Singing News Fan Awards for Instrumentalist of the Year, which was later named The Anthony Burger Award in 1989; one Dove Award along with several nominations, two People's Choice Awards, and numerous other awards. He has performed at the White House for President Jimmy Carter, on "The Today Show," David's Citadel in Jerusalem, "Prime Time Country," and many other notable locations. After suffering from third-degree burns as a toddler, his parents were told by the physician that he would never have full use of his hands, but he overcame that limitation and was accepted at the Cadek Conservatory at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga at age five. He never graduated high school as music became his life. While performing on a cruise ship, he had a massive heart attack and died.
