At the time of her death Miss Conroy was the secretary to Herbert R. O'Conor (1896-1960) who was the Attorney General for the state of Maryland. O'Conor was later elected as the 51st Governor of Maryland in 1939 and served in this capacity until 1947 at which time he was then elected to the U.S. Senate from 1947-1953. It was O'Conor who identified Miss Conroy's body at Sea Girt, New Jersey. Miss Conroy was the sole provider for her two older sisters May and Agnes. Governor O'Connor is also buried in New Cathedral Cemetery.
