Many of the lifeboats were frozen to the davits. 43 people were killed.
I have always suspected that Father Frost died a gentleman, letting others take the remaining life boats.
His body was found on 1/26, floating near the crash site. The vestryman from the church who identified him at the morgue said that his shoes were still frozen to his feet.
Father Frost was an Episcopal minister, educated at the Union Theological Seminary in NYC. His first parish was St. Mary's Staten Island, where he was rector for more than 3 decades.
He was sailing to Cuba for his health.
He is a native of Charleston, SC and his sister accompanied his body to his interrment.
January will be the 75th anniversary of the Mohawk disaster.
