KILLED IN THE SINKING OF THE LINER MOHAWK.
Husband of Celestine E. Hitchcock Peabody (1892-1935) with whom he had two children. Mr. Peabody was a renown Manhattan architect and lived in Westbury, Long Island, N.Y. He and his wife were traveling to Mexico on board the liner Mohawk (owned by the Clyde-Mallory Line and under charter to the Ward Line) when it was involved in a collision with the Norwegian cargo ship Talisman off the coast of New Jersey. Including the Peabodys, 15 passengers and 30 thirty crew members were killed in the sinking. Mr. Peabody's death was noted in the February 4, 1935 issue of Time magazine.
