MAYOR, JUDGE AND GENERAL PALLBEARERS FOR ALDERETE.-++.-Pioneers of El Paso and El Paso county will motor to Ysleta Friday morning to attend the funeral of the late Benigno Alderete, father of Frank and Ike Alderete, who died Tuesday night in a local hospital following the amputation of his leg in an effort to prevent the spread of blood poisoning through his body. .....The funeral will be held at 8 o'clock Friday morning from the ancient church Nuetra Senora del Carmen, where the head of the Alderete family worshipped for so many years. The burial will be in the Aldereter family plot in the Ysleta cemetery. The pallbearers will be: Mayor Tom Lea, Judge J. R. Harper, Gen. Marcelo Caraveo, C. E. Kelly, J. M. Duran, Faustino Armenderez, I. G. Gaal......Mr. Alderete was 71 years old and was one of the pioneer settlers in the El Paso valley. Biography
Benigno Alderete, father of Isaac Alderete, was born at Ysleta about 1847 and for many years was one of the leading citizens of that place and vicinity. He has filled various positions of honor and trust, has been mayor, county commissioner and customs inspector of the United States and has likewise filled other offices, the duties of which have been discharged in a most capable and efficient manner. He is the owner of a large amount of the rich valley and in the Ysleta neighborhood, having nearly one hundred families living as tenants upon his different places and conducting their operation and improvement. He married Miss Espirideona Gonzales, who died about twenty-five years ago. Her people were originally from Chihuahua.
