Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept 24, for Mrs. Florence M. Washburn Tippery at the Federated Church in Decatur. Rev. Mr. Arkins officiated and a quartet accompanied by Mrs. Mabel Busse on the organ furnished the music.

Florence M. Washburn, daughter of Wallace and Julia Washburn, was born on May 11, 1862 at Fairfield, OH, and passed away at her home near Decatur Sept 22, 1947 at the age of 85 yrs, four months, and eleven days.

In 1865 Mr. and Mrs. Washburn and their four children moved to Decatur. They made the journey by stagecoach and train. Four years later, another sister, Luella was born. Two sisters and her parents preceded her in death.

She was united in marriage with Wesley Tippery at Decatur, Nov 27, 1889. To this union four children were born, Julia Bell, Florence, Roy and Leo. Julia Bell, Florence and Leo died in infancy. Mrs. Tippery lived on the same farm for 82 years. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb 19, 1947.

She received her early Christian education at Sunday School held at the Golden Springs schoolhouse. In the early 20s she joined the Decatur Methodist Church.

She was a Charter Member of the Decatur Methodist Aid and American Legion Auxiliary. She had a quiet, unpretentious personality and was faithful to her church and community.

Those who remain to mourn her passing include her son Roy and his wife, five grandchildren, Lyle, Elmer, Glenn, Vern and Velma, and her sister Luella Snyder who has spent a number of years living with Mrs. Tippery.

Pallbearers were Elmer Busse, Earl Smith, Fred Dunn, Charley Rogers, Dale Linscott, and Guy Mussack.
