John Wesley Tippery was the son of William and Martha Tippery. He was one of a family of nine, all of whom have passed on except one sister, Mrs. Anna Walker. He was born on Oct 14, 1858 at Winnebago Valley, MN, and died at his home Feb 10, 1947 at the age of 88 yrs, three months and 26 days.

In 1889 he was united in marriage with Florence May Washburn. To this union four children were born: Julia Belle, Florence Marie, Leo Florin and Roy Glenn. The first three passed away in infancy.

He suffered a stroke Nov 20, 1935, and had been confined to a wheel chair for many years. The past year he had been bedridden most of the time. He was a patient sufferer and always kept good spirits. He took an active interest in civic affairs and enjoyed visiting with his many friends.

He is survived by his wife, his son Roy Glenn, five grandchildren, Lyle, Elmer, Glen, Vern and Velma, one sister, Anna Walker, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Federated Church at Decatur Wednesday, Feb 12, 1947, with Rev. Mr. Arkens officiating. Appropriate music was furnished by Mrs. Evelyn Miller and Miss Julia Hamilton accompanied by Mrs. Mabel Busse. Pallbearers were Elmer Busse, Dales Linscott, Guy Mussack, Earl Smith, Charles Rogers, and Fred Dunn.
