He was a native of Pleasant Garden and was a manager for a Hardware Distributor. He was a World War II marine veteran and a member of the Greensboro Amateur Radio Club.
Surviving are wife, Mrs. Jennie G. Cooper, daughter, Mrs. Ember Wells of Fort Mill, S.C.; sister, Mrs. Geraldine Kirkpatrick of Greensboro; one grandchild.
Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society or Grace United Methodist Church.
