RANDLEMAN- Mr. Lacy B. Coble Jr., 76, passed away Monday, April 24, 2006, at Moses Cone Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sumner Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Tom Patterson and Jeff Case. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.

Mr. Coble was born Nov. 10, 1929, in Randolph County, the son of the late Lacy B. Sr. and Effie Holland Coble.

He was owner and operator of Coble Construction from 1962 to 1981 and of Coble Oil Co. from 1969 to 1976. Mr. Coble also served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1948 to 1952. He was a member of Sumner Baptist Church from 1965 until his death. He was ordained as a deacon and formerly served as chairman of trustees. He was instrumental in construction of the present sanctuary, which was built in 1973 and 1974.

Mr. Coble was a member of Friendly Men's Sunday school class. He was also a member of Sumner Civitan since 1973 until his death, where he served as president in 1981 and coached baseball for several years. He was a member of the Shriners, the Scottish Rite, and was a 32nd Degree Mason at the Gate City Lodge #694. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Mr. Coble was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Edith Edwards Coble, in 1999; sisters, Ruth Setzer and Verona Gladwell; and brothers, Joseph "Doc" Coble and Jerry Coble.

Surviving are his wife, Margie Dulin Coble of the home; son, Dale Coble of Greensboro; daughter, Tracey C. Parrish (Dale) of Greensboro; brother, Ronnie Coble of Charleston, S.C.; sisters, Pat Tilley, Norma Mooney (Wyatt), Mary Brown (Ron) all of Greensboro; granddaughters, Taylor and Madison Parrish of Greensboro; step-children, Linda Ward (Kenny), Ginger Crotts (David), Peggy Poe (Jim), Tommy Dulin (Donna); nine step grandchildren; and eight great step grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel and other times at the home, 5528 Rolling Meadows Rd., Randleman. Mr. Coble will also lie-in-state one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Peter Rubin and his staff at the Regional Cancer Center and to the staff at Hospice of Greensboro. May God bless you all.
