GREENSBORO - Julius Alston, Sr., 86 of Greensboro, NC passed on Monday, September 21, 2009.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, September 25, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro, NC.
He was born in Pittsboro, NC, Mr. Alston was a resident of Greensboro for over 50 years. He was employed by Sears for 36 years until his retirement in 1985. He served his country honorably in World War II as a member of the U.S. Army, active in combat operations in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He received and was decorated with the U.S. Army EAMET Campaign Medal with five bronze service stars. Mr. Alston was a member of the local chapter of the American Legion.
Julius was predeceased by his wife, Alberta Chalmers Alston (2006) and a granddaughter.
He is survived by two sons, Julius Alston, Jr. (Jacki) and James Bernard Chalmers (Loretta); three grandchildren, Camille Alston, Sophia Banks and Terra Harris (Lorenzo) and three great grandchildren, Tre Banks, Kennedy and Kendall Harris, an aunt, Myrtle Alston, Greensboro, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held at Knolls Funeral Home, 50 Masonic Street, Pittsboro, NC from 12 noon until 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2009.
