Patrick Joseph McGrath was born June 10, 1940. He passed away June 27, 2009 at the Veterans Hospital in New York City.

He was a Veteran of the United States Marines Corp, retired S.E.I.U. (Service Employees International Union). He was very active in veterans' causes, juvenile justice and The NYC Housing Authority. He was Parish Council of St. Gregory the Great, Roman Catholic Church. He was a board member of the Community Free Democrats of the Upper Westside. He was also an Alternate Delegate to the 1st Judicial District Democratic Convention from the 69th Assembly District New York County.

A memorial Mass was held at The Church of St. Gregory the Great in New York City on July 7, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating and celebrating the Eucharist was Monsignor Michael Crimmins Celebrant, The mass included Organist & Soloist John Trainor. Lectors; were Joseph Lawrence and Joan Mendez. A Few Words from Patrick's Friends were said by Vincent Alfonso, Anna Lewis and best friend John Bonhomme.

The Honor Guard of the United States Marine Corps participated in the Memorial.

I only knew Patrick for a short time but, I considered him a good friend. He was very good people and cared about everybody. His legacy will be his unselfish attitude toward helping others. I will miss him very much.
