James was a member for many years with the Four Seasons Ski Club in New York and was a very strong and excellent downhill skier. He died of pneumonia in August 1985 at St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital in New York at age 56. He was cremated.

He was a very good skier and a very good friend, he taught me to ski and made my life full again.
