He moved to Arkansas and married Chaney Johnson Wakefield of Van Buren, Arkansas. They had 12 children; 10 survived. He died in Van Buren, Arkansas on April 17, 1926. He was buried at Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren, Arkansas on April 19, 1926.
