Phillip Clayton Wray Sr. died Monday April 19 at Moses Cone Hospital at the age of 68. Mr. Wray's Funeral will be held at 2 PM Wednesday April 21 at Sedgefield Presbyterian Church. Reverend Tempe Fussell and Gin Reid Blair Hall will be officiating. The family will receive friends at a celebration of his life immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. Interment will be private at Guilford Memorial Park preceding the service.
Phil was born August 21, 1941 in Greensboro to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clayton Wray. He was a graduate of Greensboro Senior High, and attended Guilford College before serving in the United States Coast Guard. Phil went to work at L and E packaging in 1961 as an estimator and retired after a 42 year career as president. Phil was dedicated to his work, loved his family, and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a member of Sedgefield Presbyterian Church and Sedgefield Country Club. Surviving are his wife of 47 years Jane Flynn Wray, Son Charles Clifton Wray of Charleston SC, and brother William A. "les" Wray of Greensboro. He was preceded in death by his son Phillip Clayton Wray, Jr.
