Phil was born August 21, 1941 in Greensboro to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clayton Wray. He was a graduate of Greensboro Senior High, and attended Guilford College before serving in the United States Coast Guard. Phil went to work at L and E packaging in 1961 as an estimator and retired after a 42 year career as president. Phil was dedicated to his work, loved his family, and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a member of Sedgefield Presbyterian Church and Sedgefield Country Club. Surviving are his wife of 47 years Jane Flynn Wray, Son Charles Clifton Wray of Charleston SC, and brother William A. "les" Wray of Greensboro. He was preceded in death by his son Phillip Clayton Wray, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Sedgefield Presbyterian Church, 4216 Wayne Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407 or to the Salvation Army. Forbis and Dick Funeral Home is serving the Wray family.
