A graveside service will be held for Mr. Huffman at 2 p.m. on Friday at Guilford Memorial Park.
James Alvis Huffman was born in Walhalla, S.C., on Dec. 27, 1922, to the late Walter and Rosa Morton Huffman. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Coast Guard and a member of Starmount Presbyterian Church. Mr. Huffman was retired from the City of Greensboro Fire Department, a volunteer with the fireman's club and an avid fisherman.
Survivors include four children, Sheila Bennett of Harrisburg, Lynn Huffman of Cedar Falls, Jeffrey Huffman of Snellville, Ga., and Eric Huffman of Greensboro; a brother, David Huffman of Smithfield; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Huffman was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Hobbs Huffman in February, 2003.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Britthaven of Madison for 10 years of loving care.
