Bobby Ray Cox

JAMESTOWN – Mr. Bobby Ray Cox, 75, of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, May 08, 2012 at Hospice Home of High Point. Bobby was born in Guilford County, November 17, 1936, a son to the late Edwin Cox and Esther Fields Cox. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Wayne Cox, and a brother, Jimmy Cox. Bobby was a member of West Fairfield Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Allen Jay class of 1954. On August 24, 1956, he married the love of his life, the former Barbara Fowler. He was employed with Clyde Pearson Furniture, for over 35 years of service before retiring; and was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Cox of the home; a daughter in law, Brenda Cox of New London, NC; three grandchildren, Karen Younger, Ashley Chapel and Kevin Ashton; four great grandchildren, Samuel and Ashton Younger, and Madison and Isaac Chapel; and three brothers, Gurney Cox and his wife, Helen, of VA, Willis Cox and his wife, Loraine, and Wesley Cox and his wife, Ruby, both of Archdale.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Friday, May 11th at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Gerber. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm, Thursday, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
