Blair Leon Armstrong, 69, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed from this life to his Eternal Home on September 15, 2015, following a brief battle with cancer with his wife and family at his side.

Leon was born on June 28, 1946 to John Blair and Alice White Armstrong. He grew up in Greensboro and graduated from Southern Pilgrim High School in 1964, then earned an AA degree from Southern Pilgrim College in 1966.

He served in the US Air Force from 1966-1973 and married the love of his life, Linda Gale Cockerham in 1967. After working at AT&T in Greensboro, he attended Olivet Nazarene College and graduated in 1979 with a Theology degree; and earned his Master's Degree in Religion from Liberty University in 2008. Leon served as associate pastor for Chicago Heights Church of the Nazarene in Chicago Heights, Ill. and Roanoke First Church of the Nazarene in Roanoke, VA before becoming a full time Evangelist. Driving and maintaining a Silver Eagle bus was Leon's hobby and pastime. The bus served as the family home for his wife and children for more than 30 years as they traveled and sang together.

While evangelizing, Leon became a professor in 2010, and began teaching on-line classes for the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, CO. Upon retirement from evangelism, he continued to teach while also serving as a Chaplain in Market Place Ministries, and as interim pastor at First Church of the Nazarene in Winston Salem, NC, and then as an interim music minister at the Church of the Nazarene in Archdale, NC.
Throughout retirement, Leon loved landscaping and renovation projects on his home; and he maintained his love of driving, employed by Holiday Tours. His lifelong passion for God's Word, preaching, music, and traveling was a blessing to those who knew him.

Leon's family was the joy of his life and he is survived by his wife and best friend of 48 years, Linda; their son, Lance (Jennifer), their daughter, Lynnette (Robbie) Young; 5 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Young, Michael Armstrong, Ryan Armstrong, Evan Young, and Julia Rose; his sister, Louise Armstrong (Bob) Secord; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Services will be held on Friday September 18, 2015 at the Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on 6000 W. Gate City Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27407 at 11:00 a.m. Family visitation will be held at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment with Military Honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
