Eugene "Gene" Babb, 80 of Trinity died Sunday at his home. Born August 29, 1932 in Lenoir City, TN Mr. Babb is a son of the late Luther Babb and Leanna White Babb. He is a veteran of the US Air Force and was in the ministry for over 38 years while working in the furniture industry. He will be remembered as a loving husband and a great father. In addition to his parents Mr. Babb was preceded in death by his first wife Wilma Babb, one child and his twin sister Imogene.
Mr. Babb is survived by his wife Carol Motley Babb of the home and four step children, Cheryl Bowman and husband Johnny of Mt. Airy, Teresa Ramsey of Thomasville, Deborah Selivo and husband Rodney of Pensacola, FL and Cynthia Cooper and husband Greg of Thomasville. He is also survived by 14 step grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a brother Roy Babb and wife Betty and a sister Frances Estes both of Loudon, TN several nieces and nephews, church family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Babb will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at New Grace Baptist Church in Thomasville with the Reverend Donnie Lunsford officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
The family would like to thank his nurses, CNAs and Hospice of Randolph County for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given to New Grace Baptist Church in Thomasville.
