Etta Mae Conaway was born August 15, 1922 in to Dude and Verley Mary Hammons in Tuskegee, Oklahoma. She departed this life Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in Bristow, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years 1 month, and 18 days.
Etta had been a longtime Bristow area resident. December 18, 1939 Howard Conaway and Etta Mae Hammons were united in marriage. They enjoyed 70 years together before his passing November 4, 2010. Together they raised four children, Joy, Floyd, Lois, and Dale.
She was a member of the Bristow First Free Will Baptist Church. She retired from Bristow Memorial Hospital where she was employed as a dietary helper for over 33 years.
She is survived by four children, Joy Henry of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Floyd M. Conaway and wife, Lois, of Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, Lois Rogers and husband, Bob, of Bristow, and Dale Conaway and wife, Kay of Tulsa; one sister, Ruby Heck of McLean, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Allan & Brittany Henry of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Alisa and Brian Page of Parker, Colorado, David Conaway of Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, Scott and Marlene Conaway of Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, Bobby Lynn and Aprill Rogers of Bristow, Susan and Bill Gibson of Sapulpa, Nicole Woodmansee of Tulsa, and Alex and Bethany Conaway of Tulsa; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Hillari and Brett Henry of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Nathaniel and Catherine Page of Parker, Colorado, Danyelle, Mason, and Nicole Conaway of Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, Zackary Conaway of Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, Amanda and Matt Gibson of Sapulpa, Taylor and Zach Rogers of Bristow, and Dani Woodmansee of Tulsa. She is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Roy and Dude Hammons, Jr.
Graveside services are 2:00 pm Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Magnolia Memorial Gardens with Brent Matherly officiating.
