Hazel E. Oren, 81, of 225 Red School Lane, Lopatcong Township, died Monday, June 11, in Warren Hospital.

She worked at the former Sanco Piece & Dye Works in Phillipsburg for 18 years, retiring in 1968. At one time, she was a waitress at restaurants in the Easton and Phillipsburg areas.

Born Aug. 12, 1919, in Bainbridge PA, she was a daughter of the late Edgar L. and Elena Welch Thorpe. She resided in Milford and Easton moving to Phillipsburg in 1948.

She was a member of Greenwich Presbyterian Church in Stewartsville.

She was a member and past president of the Bernadine-May American Legion Post No. 457 Auxilliary. She was an active member of the Warren County Ostomy Association, where she served as secretary and sunshine chairwoman. She attended Frenchtown High School.

Her husband, Theodore "Pete," died in 1993. Her first husband, Russell Hamlin, died in 1965.
