Obituary from Warren Sentinel:
Mrs. Emily [sic. Emma] Tharp, wife of Robert F. Tharp and granddaughter of Thomas A. Hill, dec'd., departed this life at Front Royal, April 14, 1888.
Sister Tharp was converted during a revival conducted by Rev. Dr. Rosser at Front Royal in 1877, joined the M.E. Church South [Asbury Methodist] and held her membership in that connection to the day of her death.
During the last two years of her life she was never well. Her disease was consumption [TB]. While her body was losing vitality, her spirit was being continually revitalized by Him "in whom we live, move and have our being." She spoke to her friends cheerfully and hopefully of the future. "I am ready to go," were her own words.
The funeral services were conducted at the M.E. Church on Sunday at 11 A.M. by Rev. J.W. Reeves, after which her remains were interred at the old Ramey burying ground.
HER PASTOR
(There are a number of graves surrounding Louisa Tharp's tombstone in the Ramey Cemetery, all marked with fieldstones, and all believed to be family members. The exact gravesite of each family member is not known.)
