Mary Louise Russell, the first of six children born of the union of Alfred Russell and Maxine "Mickey" Pinney Russell, was born in Seattle, WA, where Alfred was stationed after the end of WWII.

After her father's discharge from his military service with the US Army, the family returned to their hometown of Madera, CA, where Mary grew up and attended schools there.

On May 31, 1952, Mary and her brother Fredric were to undergo routine tonsillectomies. Mary was the first to undergo surgery, and everything went well. However, during his surgery, Fredric had a sudden seizure from anesthesia and died.

Mary graduated from Madera Union High School in 1963.

After graduation, Mary attended college in San Jose, CA, where, in 1964, she died in an auto accident.
