Floyd M. Darling, 60, of R.D. 3 Meshoppen lost his life when he was thrown from the tractor he was driving as it collided with a Ford station wagon driven by Frank Townsend RR 2 Meshoppen Saturday morning, October 27, about 8:30 am.

Sgt. Harry Shibley, commander of New Milford barracks, Penna State Police, stated that Mr. Darling, who was pulling a manure spreader with his Farmall tractor, turned onto Rte 267 from Rte No 57002-57012,where vision is very poor and collided with the stationw agon, which was traveling north on 267.

The victim was taken to Tyler Memorial Hospital, where he died soon after arrival. He was pronounced dead of possible skull fracture by Wyoming County Coroner Bryce Sheldon.

Mr. Darling was a member of the Rush Grange and the Retta Methodist Church. His funeral was held Tuesday from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Meshoppen, with the Rev. Larry Saxe, pastor of Retta Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in Jersey Hill Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lydia Stevens; a daughter, Mrs. Richard Morris, Sayre; six sons: Raymons, Rummerfield; Edward, Buffalo NY; Robert and Richard, Nicholson; Willard, R.D. Pittston; and Gordon, Meshoppen; three brothers, Lester and Delbert, Nicholson and Lawrence, Binghamton NY; 21 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A native of Canton, Bradford County, Mr. Darling was a son of the late Robert and Mary Fitzwater Darling. He lived in Mansfield and Nicholson before moving to the Meshoppen area 20 years ago.
