JAMESTOWN – Edgar J. Chanley, 90, a resident of Jamestown for the past 13 years and a former resident of Linton, died Monday at his residence.
He was born in Dubois County on Aug 24, 1879, the son of Benjamin T. and Rachael Maine Chanley. On Oct. 16, 1916, he was married to Matilda Moody, who survives. He was a member of the Ellis Church of Christ of Dugger.
Surviving is the widow, Mrs. Matilda Chanley; two sons, Edgar E. Chanley of Jamestown, Wayne T. Chanley of Linton; three sisters, Mrs. Mae Wyant of Monroe City, Mrs. Carrie Bush of Linton, Mrs. Margaret Taylor of Casper, Wyo.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Welch and Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, where friends may call after noon on Wednesday. Friends may call at the Walker Funeral Home in Linton after 6 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Linton.
