Herbert W. "Sonny" Eldridge Jr., 63, died Sunday at his home after a brief illness.
Born in Hyannis, Mr. Eldridge graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School in 1960 and was an automobile mechanic for Clay Chevrolet in Newton for 25 years.
A longtime Brockton resident, he moved to South Dennis in 1991.
After returning to Cape Cod, he worked at Stagg Chevrolet in Harwich and, since 1997, at O'Hara Chrysler in Falmouth.
He and his daughter bred and exhibited Siberian huskies, and he was a member of the Yankee Siberian Husky Club of Bedford.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, was a NASCAR and Red Sox fan, and liked working in his yard.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son, two daughters, two sisters, and three grandchildren.
Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134, South Dennis. A Mass of Christian burial is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Cape Church, Brewster. Burial is in Oak Ridge Cemetery, South Dennis.
