NC (Leaksville twp.), he was listed as Travis Brodnax--46, a farmer; his wife, Alice--45; daughter Lila--20; son Fred--16; and his wife's sister Julia Jones--58. In the 1870 census, his last name was spelled as Broadnax, he was shown in Rockingham Co. NC (Leaksville twp.) as 36 years of age; wife Alice J.--35, daughter Eliza H.--11; and son William F.--7. In the 1860 census, he is in Rockingham Co., shown as E.T. Brodnax--24; wife Alice--24; and daughter, Eliza--2 months old. (His next neighbor was a John G. Brodnax--31, whose wife was Mary H.--31. In the 1850 census for Rockingham Co. (eastern dist.), he is shown, but his name is totally messed up in that census. (A correction has been sent in.) At that time, he only 16, was shown as living with his father Robert, brother Frederick, and sister Mary.
