Mary Frances Brandt, 88, a life resident of LaFayette, passed away peacefully on Thursday after a long and love-filled life. Born on "Vinegar Hill" in LaFayette, she was the daughter of Robert V. Mason and Julia A. (Murphy) Mason. Mary was married to Jack Brandt for 42 years until his untimely death in 1985. In 1974, Mary retired from her position as executive secretary at Patrician-Verona after 28 years of service. Following her retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper for Brandt, Kelsey, and DeJoseph Law Firm. In the early 90s she developed a record management system for the Town of LaFayette. Mary was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, where she was a member and officer of the Women's Group. She also served on the Parish Council and was a trustee of the Church for 18 years. Mary was a loyal and caring confidant, and a treasure to all who knew her. She will be sorely missed! Mary is survived by two sons, Robert of Tucson, AZ and John W. (Judy) of Phoenix, NY, and one daughter, Carole (Tom) Scofield of LaFayette. In Mary's eyes, the sun rose and set on her seven grandchildren: Elizabeth of Tucson, AZ, Thomas (Erin) Scofield and Kate (John) Morgan, both of LaFayette, Johnathan of Troy, NY, Karen (Scott) Brandt-Brown, Kelly, and K.C. Brandt, all of Phoenix, NY, as well as her six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by her sister, Rita (1985) and her brother, Robert (1945). Services will be held on Monday, 9:30 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, LaFayette and at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, LaFayette, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Fr. John Kurgan. Spring burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Pompey. Calling hours will be Sunday, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home, 2584 Field Lane.
