John "Mr. C" Cuipylo, 86, of Fabius, formerly of LaFayette passed away Thursday at his home with his family at his side. Mr. C retired from LaFayette Central Schools in 1988 following 38 years of service as a teacher. A Class of 1950 graduate of Cortland State College, he was listed in Who's Who in Colleges and Universities. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in LaFayette and later attended the Church of the Nativity at Immaculate Conception in Pompey. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #9284 and was a former member of the LaFayette Fire Department. Mr. C. was a founding member of the Senior Citizen Club of LaFayette and a co-sponsor of Marquis DeLaFayette Yorkers Junior & Senior Club for 18 years with Mrs. Ruth Bush. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving in WWII. He was predeceased by his wife, Edith in 1992; son, Eric J. Cuipylo in 2000 and brother, Nicholas Cuipylo in 2000. Surviving are four daughters, Karen A. (John Alba) Cuipylo, Donna M. (Tim) Cuipylo-Watkins, Janet L. Cuipylo and Julie A. (Ron) Wheatley; two sons, Stephen O. (Teresa) Cuipylo and Brian N. Cuipylo; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandson, several nieces and nephews and a huge extended family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 10 a.m. in Church of the Nativity at Immaculate Conception, Pompey with Military Honors. Spring burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Pompey. Calling hours will be held Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette. Contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of CNY, 5005 Campuswood Drive, East Syracuse, NY 13057 or Fabius Volunteer Fire Dept., 7825 Main Street, Fabius, NY 13063.
