Sara V. Pond was the daughter of Richard H. Pond and Kate M. Ross. She presumably was born at San Francisco, San Francisco Co., California where she was censused the following year. Sara married (1st) George Van Dyke ca. 1898, but in 1900 Sara and her baby daughter, Margaretta "Peggy" Van Dyke, were censused living in the household of her (step?) brother, Frank E. Berier, still in San Francisco. By 1910, Sara is listed as a Widow working as a Professional Nurse, and she and her daughter are in the household of Sara's mother at Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California. Sara is again with her mother at Los Angeles in 1920 after serving as an Army Nurse in World War I. In July 1932, Sara traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii, with the surname Van Dyke. When she returned To Los Angeles in January 1933, her surname had changed to Eddy and she was accompanied by Clarence Lee Eddy, son of Owen David Eddy and Ruth Adelaide Gregory, apparently having married Clarence in Hawaii. Sara and Clarence resided in Los Angeles where Clarence worked as a Roofing Contractor until his death in 1942.
