Professional baseball player. Williams played for several teams in the pre-Negro leagues and minor leagues from 1885 to 1913, most notably with the Cuban Giants and the Cuban X-Giants. After playing for a team in his hometown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1882, he played for clubs in Middletown and Williamsport. Williams joined the first professional black ball club, the Cuban Giants, in 1885 and remained their primary catcher for most of the next decade. He also played in the minor leagues from 1889 to 1891 with teams in Trenton, Harrisburg, and Ansonia. By 1897, Williams was playing with the Cuban X-Giants, and remained with the club through the winter of 1906-07. Williams played for both the Brooklyn Royal Giants and the Philadelphia Giants in 1907, and stayed with Philadelphia for part of 1908. He rejoined the Cuban Giants in 1908, played for Club Fé in the Cuban Winter League in 1910-11, and ended his career with the Paterson Smart Set in 1913. Williams also served as player-manager for several clubs later in his career.
