Professional Baseball Player. He was a professional baseball player as well as a manager and executive. Green played outfield in the pre-Negro leagues and Negro leagues from 1902 to 1921, including a lengthy 11-year stint with the Chicago Giants between 1910 and 1921. He began his career with the Chicago Columbia Giants in 1902 before moving to the Chicago Union Giants the following year. Green played for the Chicago Leland Giants in 1905, 1906, and 1909, spending time again with the Union Giants in between. He joined the Chicago Giants in 1910 and became player-manager starting in 1912 and eventually the team's owner. Green remained with the club when it joined the newly established Negro National League in 1920. He played in 151 documented games across all levels of competition in his career and led the club to a 33-114 win-loss record as manager.
