SSG Joseph Emmanuel Anderson

Staff Sergeant Joseph Emmanuel Anderson passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the age of 31. He was a loving daddy to Joseph Anderson Jr. (age 12), Jamal Anderson (age 11), and Morgan Anderson (age 7). Son of David and Kathleen Anderson. Brother of Veronica Mowery (Vance) and David Anderson Jr. He was active duty in the U.S. Army having served for 12 years. His last assignment was at Walter Reed Hospital. He earned the Global War on Terror as a result of his three deployments in Iraq. He earned his Airborne Wings in 2005. He was proud to follow his two grandfathers who both served in the Army in WWII. He was an avid deer hunter and Saints Fan.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.

The family of SSgt. Joseph Emmanuel Anderson has requested the Patriot Guard stand in Honor of their Hero and loved one. SSgt. Anderson was stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and was home on Christmas leave visiting his family. SSGT Anderson had just dropped his three young children off at his in laws and was returning to his car when he was fatally shot by an unknown assailant. His car was taken. SSGT. Anderson had completed three tours of duty overseas. The first in Kuwait and the other two in Iraq. He had also earned his Airborne Wings in 2005. This March would have been his 12 year anniversary as a member of the United States Army.
