L. Kay Simmons, age 76, of Churchville, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 26, 2012 at her home.
Born in Pottstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leon Horace Harbold and Mildred Leah Moser Harbold Saltzer and wife, for 42 years, of the late William Oscar Simmons. She earned her teaching degree from Kutztown University where she was a graduate of the Class of 1957. She resided in Harford County for 56 years and taught for the Harford County Public Schools. She loved animals, shopping, and above all, her grandchildren.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her son, David Lee Simmons of Churchville, MD; daughter, Debra Lea Grabowski and husband, Ulf, of Churchville, MD; brother, Leon Harbold of Bethlehem, PA; grandchildren, Robert V., Leah B., Ryan D., Megan K. and Allison L. Grabowski; and great-granddaughter, Rebecca Jean.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Bel Air.
Those who desire may make a donation to the Harford County Humane Society, 2208 Connelly Road, Fallston, MD 21047.
