Helen Marie Wood, 76, of Brooks went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 14, 2011.
Helen was the wife of the late Charles Wood and the daughter of the late Russell & Clara Cales and was born December 6, 1934.
She was preceded in death by her beloved step mother Sadie Cales and Brother Jerry Cales.
Helen was survived by 2 brothers and 5 sisters and many nephews and nieces. She was the loving mother of 3 daughters Nena Mills wife of JD Mills of Barksdale, Carolyn Johnson wife of David Johnson of Hinton, and Tammie Lilly wife of Christopher Lilly of Jumping Branch. She was the grandmother of Anna Hardy wife of Jason Hardy, Davy Mills, Caryne Johnson, Samantha Mills, Mel Johnson, and Brooklynn Lilly. She was the great grandmother of Orion Hardy. She was known as "Mommy Helen" to Kristen "Sissy" Blanchard of Sumter, South Carolina.
Helen was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ in Hinton. She loved to sew and garden. She touched and loved many while on this earth and will be sadly missed. She was above all a Christian and walked a path of righteousness.
Funeral Services will be held 11 A.M. Thursday August 18th, 2011 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor Chapel with Minister John McCain officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Friends may call at the funeral parlor from
6-8 P.M. Wednesday. The family will serve as pallbearers.
