Charlotte E. "Peggy" Johnson, 87, of 518 Third Ave., Hinton, died 8:20 a. m. Fri. Jan. 16, 1998, in Hinton hospital following a short illness.

Born Nov. 17, 1910, at Sandstone, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Mary Ellen Taylor Cales.

Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and a member of the Hinton Church of Christ. She had lived all her life in Summers County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Johnson, two sons, Kenneth O. Johnson and Bobby Joe Johnson; and two brothers, Denvil and Lester Cales.

Survivors include her three sons, M.S. "Bud" Johnson and his wife, Joyce, of Hinton, Danny Johnson and his wife, Carolyn, of Gastonia, N.C., and Arnold Lee Johnson and his wife, Patty, of Greenville; two daughters, Wilma Beto and her husband, Frank, of Hinton, and Sue Neighbors of Smithville Tenn.; a brother, Marvin T. Cales and his wife, Dortha, of Moorehead, Ky.; a sister, Kathleen Tucker and her husband, Ernest, of Beckley; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Mon. Jan 19th at the Hinton Church of Christ with Larry Harrington officiating. Burial followed in the Fox Cemetery at Brooks.
