Retired mechnical engineer George Chapin, 87, and his sweet wife, Pauline Chapin, 77, were discovered October 3, 2000, savagely beaten and murdered in the home they had lovingly shared for nearly 50 years at 28065 East Palos Verdes Drive, Palos Verdes, California. George was born October 20, 1912 in California. Before marriage, he had worked as the foreman of a Bakersfield Petroleum facility. Later he had worked for Macco and was a mechanical engineer. Described as "incredible people" by those who knew them, the couple was mourned deeply by family and friends.
George was preceded in death by his parents George Edward Chapin (23 Oct 1869-27 Jul 1941) and Helen Louise Partridge Chapin (May 1885- ); siblings Alice Partridge Chapin (19 Aug 1906- ), and Sidney Lynde Chapin (18 Feb 1908-8 Jul 1984)
They were survived by their daughter, Donna, 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Graveside memorial services were held on October 9, 2000 at Green Hills Memorial Park.
