Dave Wygonik 46, died of Myelogenous Leukemia at Detroit Henry Ford Hospital. David was a lifelong Democrat who for more than 10 years he was Michigan Senator George Hart's Administrative Assistant, whom he had known since he was a little boy. He also served as Advertising Manager of The Citizen in Hamtramack, and was instrumental in promoting Paczki Day in the early 1980's, which became a major event in Metro Detroit. In the 70's Dave and a group of friends founded the Dearborn Sentinel Newspaper. His last job was with DeGiulio Industries as a Design Consultant, in Dearborn, MI. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus Bishop Foley Council and a founding member of Polish American Citizens for Equity. Dave was also Church Lector at St. Barbara's Church in Dearborn. His wife Keely (Kaleski) survives and Parents Albin and Genevive Wygonik. His brother Richard (Adrenne) Wygonik also survives. I had the pleasure of being his friend when he helped me with the Fordson High School Alumni Association Birthday Party in March 1997. Dave was a 1972 Fordson Graduate and was more than happy to help. It was so sad that such a young man had to die, but his life was not wasted sitting idle.
