Daughter of Louis A Van Hyning (1864-1940) and Naomi Green (b. 1872).

Obituary: "Mrs Gladys Van Hyning Gillis, 33, wife of Frank Gillis, died at 9:30 o'clock this morning at her home in this city. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Mackey Funeral Home, Reverend Albert Monroe of the Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be made in Belltown Cemetery." (Daily Illinois State Journal 1 Feb 1934)
